In powerlifting, formulas are used to assess and compare lifters with different body weights. In this article we evaluate two such formulas: Wilks and IPF GL. Then we generalize them and propose an alternative. We also create a formula that accounts for age and training experience.
Given a desired stationary distribution and a Markov chain structure, what should the transition probabilities be in order for sampling to converge to the stationary distribution?
Sets and repetitions are essential building blocks in all strength training programs. In this article I present a novel idea: formulating the creation of repetition schemes as a combinatorial optimization problem.
I present a model for how strength levels increase over time for an athlete. The model equation is derived from first principles using a differential equation as the starting point.
